Private accommodation in the area

The Waihōanga Lodge has four seperate bedrooms. These sleep four (2 bunks), ten (5 bunks), eight (4 bunks) and four (4 singles), respectively. In addition, all bookings also can use Chicken and Rooster huts, which each sleep two people (1 bunk bed in each hut). The lodge and huts included in the base package can therefore can sleep up to 30 people in shared accomodation. Two additional private cabins can sleep up to four each, making a total of 38 beds on site.

We appreciate that some of our guests like a bit more privacy – or need more beds! This page lists some suggestions of additional accommodation in the immediate area that you might like to explore.

Private Cabins at Waihōanga

Kahu Cabin – one double and two single sofa-beds. Perfect for a single, couple or family. Very close to the lodge, and uses the shared facilities at the lodge (kitchen and bathrooms).

Saddleback Cabin – four singles, split in two spaces (utilising a mezzanine – where the two singles can be slid next to each other). Perfect for a single, couple or family. Very close to the lodge, and uses the shared facilities at the lodge (kitchen and bathrooms)

Kaitawa Farm Homestay
Farm Stay on Kaitawa Road, a short walk from Waihōanga. The old workshop has been converted into a beautiful warm, quiet, and lusciously comfortable self-contained studio – with 2 queen beds in seperate rooms.

Kaitawa Sanctuary
Self contained new cabin. Very private and quiet. Double bed with pull out single mattress. Access to yoga studio upon request. Perfect for couples, artist/health retreats. Available from February 2019. Also on Kaitawa Road, up the hill from Waihōanga.

Parenga Rd luxury bach
This secluded, self-contained luxury bach is just a short walk from Waihōanga. Contains 1 double and 1 or 2 singles, split across a mezannine.

Otaki Scout Group’s Kereru Lodge
Directly across the road from Waihōanga. Basic accommodation (similar to a tramping hut) for 15 comfortably & up to 20.
