By car: approx one hour's drive from both Wellington and Palmerston North
By train: Waikanae or Otaki stations (15 min drive away - arrange taxi or pick-up)

  • All weekend bookings must book at least Friday & Saturday nights. During long weekends bookings must span full extended weekend.
    If you have asked about Early Arrival (from 9.30am Tuesday to Friday, please specify) or Late Departure please put the times you require in the 'Other' dialogue box.

About Us

Waihōanga has operated as a sanctuary, getaway, retreat centre, outdoor activity venue and group accommodation for over thirty years. During that time, different owners have made improvements to both the grounds and land, left their own personal touch, and fostered an ever-growing community of friends and visitors who continue to return regularly.

Andy and Rhian moved here in May 2017. They are honoured to continue the legacy of care and custodianship of this very special place. We welcome enquiries from visitors who are interested in staying in the lodge and cabins as part of a group, as well as those who would like to help around the property.
