We loved our time at Waihōanga and will certainly be back! The land is the perfect combination of Nature's best - river, mountains, and native bush. The venue is so welcoming with many options of different rooms to stay in and to use, we loved the yurt! Every time we stay, we notice new improvements and would really recommend it to anyone wanting a retreat experience. Marie Andrews, Kapiti Yoga

Experienced a fabulous weekend at Waihoanga. The accommodation exceeded expectations - the kitchen/dining was well equiped, spacious and warmed by a lovely wood burner. The sitting room was a calm welcoming space (also with a lovely wood burner). The yurt was a highlight (also warmed by wood burner) - it provided a unique space for a best ever yoga session! The sleeping (bunk) rooms were cosy and comfortable. The retreat is nestled in amongst scenic bush and is only a short walk from the Otaki river. All very lovely. - Lynne Miller, Eastbourne

Thanks so much everyone for a memorable weekend : ) Belinda Hadfield, Wellington

Celebration Weekend

Weddings at Waihōanga are very special. It's also a wonderful venue for  other celebrations such as anniversaries and significant birthdays. In addition to providing a private, intimate and natural location, the venue also offers a range of accommodation options for your loved ones & friends to stay and celebrate with you over several days.

These celebrations do, however, have a much higher impact on the Waihōanga team and our neighbours than most other bookings. As a result, we now restrict these to small, intimate events that are focussed on sharing a special time with loved ones in a beautiful natural environment. We have a strict policy around alcohol and noise, and will only agree to hosting your wedding or event after we meet you and learn more about your vision for your special day.

Tailored for: small weddings and other significant celebrations.
Check-in: 5pm Friday – 2pm Sunday
Price: $6200 (full weekend price)
Numbers: Up to 40 people.
Includes: the lodge, chicken and rooster huts, wifi & 75" internet TV, saddleback cabin, Kāhu cabin, Yurt, cleaning
Also includes: up to 2 site visits prior to the event.
Optional extras:  glamping, camping, early check-in/ late check-out.
Extra nights: at bare-bones rate (see below)
Note: noise restriction for up to 4 hours on Saturday night to 11pm.  Events also require hiring a stretch tent.

We were so incredibly lucky to have our wedding in Waihōanga! We really wanted to find a venue that would allow us to create the wedding we want and make us and our guests feel at home. When we met Rhian, Andy and their wonderful daughter, Georgia, and they showed us around, we knew we had found the right venue for us. The beautiful grounds nested between the green hills and the Otaki river were the perfect backdrop for our special day. Andy and Rhian and their team were incredible to deal with and we had an amazing day. - Ben and Tania, 2019

I attended a conference here and highly recommend the facilities and setting. The woodstoves kept us warm, the newly revamped bathrooms were a treat, and the natural surroundings provided lovely walks through bush to the river. The outdoor bath (like a spa pool) is a bonus! And all only about an hour's drive from Wellington. Bryan R., Wellington
